This page contains some information and reviews about films which I have seen. All comments are simply my own opinions, you may have different views.

Die Another Day (DVD) (12)

Date of release (UK): 2nd May 2003
Date of my purchase: 5th June 2003
Staring roles: Pierce Brosnan (James Bond 007), Halle Bery (Jinx), Rosamund Pike (Miranda Frost), Rick Yune (Zao), Toby Stephens (Gustav Graves)
Synopsis: James Bond is betrayed and captured in North Korea. When he is released he vows to find the person who betrayed him. While he finds to traitor he discovers a plot by a rogue North Korean army officer to take over the world...

His mission takes him to Cuba, Iceland, London and back to North Korea.

DVD Special Features: This DVD includes an entire second disc full of special features, including behind-the-scenes documentaries, trailers and still images.
My opinion: The movie has a different 'feel' from previous Bond movies. The opening 'gun-barrel' sequence has been changes slightly, the opening credits are different and Bond is seen surfing.

The DVD is quite good, but I would prefer some more detail in the behind-the-scenes pieces.

Rating: 7/10 (Movie) 8/10 (DVD)

The Matrix Reloaded (15)

Date of release (UK): 21st May 2003
Date of my viewing: 22nd May 2003
Staring roles: Keanu Reeves (Neo), Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus)
Synopsis: The forces of the Matrix are trying to attack Zion, the last human city in the real world. Against the advice of the Zion authorities, Morpheus believes that Neo can stop the war once and for all by entering the Matrix and fulfilling the prophecy of 'The One'. Neo enters the Matrix, but discovers the prophecy is not all it appears to be...
My opinion: This film has some stunning visual effects, including the trademark slow-motion effects, which have been enhanced for this film, as well as a good storyline and the action sequences are simply amazing.

However, a lot of the film has been created and enhanced with computer graphics, and at some points in the film these come very close to the border of believability. Also, some of the characters and situations seem a bit shallow, especially the relationship between Neo and Trinity.

Rating: 8/10
